When workouts or meals don't sync

A workout isn't showing up

Health syncing runs when you open the app, at most every ~15 minutes. First try:

  1. Pull down to refresh on Home, or
  2. Settings → Sync Now (it also shows when the last sync ran).

Still missing? Check permissions:

  • iPhone: iOS never tells apps whether Health read access was granted, so a denied permission just looks like "nothing syncs." Open the Health app → your profile → Apps → Gauge and make sure its categories are enabled.
  • Android: open Health Connect and grant Gauge read access. Health Connect needs Android 14+, or the Health Connect app installed from Google Play.
  • Strava: activities push to Gauge the moment they finish uploading to Strava — if one didn't, check that Strava still shows Connected in Settings → Connections.

A synced run occasionally arrives before its distance data does; the next sync fills it in automatically.

My targets look wrong after a workout

Opening the app or pulling to refresh re-runs the target engine. Remember two rules: completed workouts always win over planned sessions, and if you're on My own numbers mode, workouts never change your targets — that's by design.

Logging fails or looks off

If adding an entry fails with a connection error, your log didn't change — check your connection and try again. When Gauge's food parser can't be reached, it falls back to simple splitting on commas and "and", which is less accurate; re-log when you're back online for better numbers.

Clearing the cache

Settings → Clear Local Cache removes cached nutrition lookups (searches may be slower until it rebuilds). It never touches your logged data. It's a decent last resort if food lookups seem stuck.
