Apple Health and Health Connect

Gauge can sync with Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, so workouts and weigh-ins flow in without manual entry.

Turn it on

In Settings, flip Sync Apple Health (iOS) or Sync Health Connect (Android). The system permission sheet appears the moment you toggle it.

On Android, Health Connect is built into Android 14 and later; on earlier versions, install the Health Connect app from Google Play first.

What syncs

  • Read: your last 30 days of weight and workouts. On iOS, workouts include heart-rate stats; on Android, sessions come with exercise type and duration.
  • Write (iOS only): weigh-ins you log in Gauge are saved back to Apple Health, which Gauge treats as the shared source of truth. Health Connect on Android is read-only — Gauge never writes to it.

New workout data re-grades the affected day's targets right away, and your latest weight feeds your goal math.

When it syncs

Automatically when you open or return to the app (at most every ~15 minutes), and on pull-to-refresh. To force it, use Sync Now in Settings — it also shows when the last sync ran.

About iOS permissions

Apple never tells apps whether you granted read access — that's by design. If you denied access, Gauge simply syncs zero records. To fix it, open the iOS Health app → your profile → Apps, find Gauge, and enable its categories. On Android, Health Connect reports permissions directly, so Gauge will show Permission needed if access is missing.
